Buddha is my personal favorite whom I love to adore in my home as well as in my garden. I have quite some collections of His various moods and mudras. The image of Buddha brings peace, balance and serenity within oneself and to the home. And when a Buddha statue is placed with any of the 5 natural elements like natural trees, plants, waterbody, candles, etc. the decor brings in lots of calmness in the surroundings and creates a perfect space for meditation. In the end, you will also find some really good deals to buy a Buddha figurine at Amazon.
A Buddha statue is also believed to spread positive energy in a room. Different forms of Buddha have their own unique place or directions in a home. Here I share 5 commonly found Buddha idols, which I believe most of you would be having at home or it can be easily found in the market too:
BLESSING OR PROTECTION BUDDHA
MEDITATING BUDDHA
BHUMISPARSHA BUDDHA
BUDDHA BUST
NIRVANA BUDDHA
1. BLESSING OR PROTECTION BUDDHA:
The BLESSING OR PROTECTION BUDDHA should be kept facing the main entrance door of the house. This pose raising one hand in the gesture of blessings has got two meanings. The raised hand acts as a protecting shield against all odds and negativities and also as a blessing enabling us with the power to overcome our fears.
2. MEDITATING BUDDHA:
The MEDITATING BUDDHA reflects the inner peace which we all seek. This Buddha idol is ideal to place in any quiet and relaxing corner of the house where we seek solace and silence. It is good to place it in the living room to spread the aura of harmony and avoid unpleasant conversations. Decorating it live plants and candles would simply boost its significance.
3. BHUMISPARSHA BUDDHA OR CALLING THE EARTH TO WITNESS:
This BHUMISPARSHA BUDDHA is the most popular as it reflects the moment of Buddha's enlightenment. This posture was taken by Buddha when the demon Mara tried to scare and tempt Him. Overcoming this, Buddha touched the ground (Bhumi) to call the Goddess Earth to witness His enlightenment. This willpower is indeed needed in our lives. I have nicely placed it on the rack of my front veranda amidst live plants, corals and incense sticks. Also, I have placed it on my waterfall creation which I have shared in the below video. This Buddha form should be placed facing East, where the Sun rises as it means eternal knowledge.
4. BUDDHA BUST:
A BUDDHA BUST is commonly found in the market and is perfect to place on the center of a tabletop or any corner of a room. Since a Buddha Bust does not reflect any traditional pose thus it does not host any meaningful significance. But, as the image itself is a beautiful piece of art, that's why it is quite famous and sometimes affordable too. The head of Buddha reflects self-knowledge and it is ideal to place in the study room, living room, bookshelves, etc. In the below photos, I placed one Buddha Bust on a tabletop with live plants and candles and the other on my crockery shelf with live plants and other decor pieces.
5. NIRVANA BUDDHA:
The NIRVANA or RECLINING BUDDHA is another sought-after Buddha posture. But, we need to be cautious in placing this pose of Buddha as it denotes the sleeping moment during the last phase of life while achieving Nirvana or freedom from His mortal life. However, this Nirvana Buddha is not negative or gloomy, on the other hand, it encourages one to attain eternal harmony. This Buddha idol reclining on its right should be placed facing West representing His imminent death. I have one such Nirvana Buddha which I have placed on a mid-height cupboard top with live plants and candles (refer to the above photo).
